Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Oh It's You Again": Oh it's you again today Was hoping for somebody different Someone to blame But when I woke up Nothing had changed I look at that face again Pick it apart Desperately searching for somewhere to start Today my world changes Today my world changes I can't forget all the battles I've lost I was rough round the edges Now I've gone soft How many years Until I pay off these dues I can't believe what I think of myself But I can't give in to somebody else Today my world changes Today my world changes Only time will tell So what should I do now To wipe away this doubt Oh it's you again I shrug (Today my world changes) Was hoping for somebody different No one showed up (Today my world changes) So this face in the mirror will be enough (Today my world changes) Gotta be my own friend When I get off track Someone who loves me Who I can love back Today my world changes Today my world changes (Today my world changes) Today my world changes (Today my world changes) Today my world changes (Today my world changes) Oh it's you again today (Today my world changes) Oh it's you again today (Today my world changes) Oh it's you again

Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Nearly Human": Coming around, returning All of my worlds are merging I'm in between somewhere I am nearly human Barely awake My body aches My reverie broken Pulled out of my dreams And nearly human My mind isn't sure of my body The sun sends a note My brain can't copy Give me more time I am nearly human Barely awake My body aches My eyes pried wide open Pulled out of my dreams And nearly human Eyes These focusing eyes These focusing eyes These focusing eyes These focusing eyes These focusing eyes I am nearly human Barely awake My reverie broken Pulled out of my dreams And nearly human And nearly human And nearly human And nearly human

Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Worth The Time": My heart was an open book you Didn't care to read No glance, no second look Opinion pre-conceived My cover said pick me please My dedication bare No waiting, no late fees While I was waiting there On the middle shelf Not hard to find My little story is worth the time I'm worth the time My peace is borrowed My spine is worn And after I'm returned My pride is swallowed My pages torn From something new I learned So put me in my place where I belong In the company of others who Keep me upright, steady and strong On the middle shelf Not hard to find My little story is worth the time I'm worth the time On the middle shelf Not hard to find My little story is worth the time On the middle shelf Not hard to find My little story is worth the time I'm worth the time (I'm worth the time) (I'm worth the time) Now I close your account Which I no longer need (I'm worth the time) To put you in a story that You didn't care to read

Catnap 03:10
Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Catnap": Catnap You can't deny it now Your eyes they can't stay open Catnap You won't be here for long A quiet spell unbroken You don't have to hit the wall Keep it at your own pace Take your eye off the ball Keep it at your own pace Dog tired It's alright and it's okay Fight, flight you become frozen Your body now has spoken You don't have to hit the wall Keep it at your own pace Take your eye off the ball Keep it at your own pace No it's not a time waste So keep it at your own pace Catnap You won't be here for long You don't have to hit the wall Keep it at your own pace (Keep it at your own pace) Take your eyes off the ball Keep it at your own pace (Keep it at your own pace) Keep it at your own pace Keep it at your own pace (You don't have to hit the wall) (Keep it at your own pace) Keep it at your own pace (Take your eye off the ball) (Keep it at your own pace) Keep it at your own pace

Good & Ready 03:32
Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Good & Ready": Are you just killing time While you look for a reason While trying not to be beaten down By the world It will turn out fine And it's ok to take your time You can stop trying to toe the line That's so blurred It's your turn I'll let you go When you learn You can let me know When you're good & ready Don't you know you're ahead So much further than I ever was So aware and in tune because You know the song So I'm looking at you And know I can learn from the best Always know that I can confess I was wrong It's your turn I'll let you go What you learn You can let me know When you're good & ready I have made mistakes And I hope you give me grace While I navigate the space That I need to give you I never owned you I just borrowed you for a while The term has expired And I'll leave you to thrive I know you'll thrive It's your turn I'll let you go What you learn you can let me know It's your turn And I've let you go What you learn You can let me know When you're good & ready When you're good & ready When you're good & ready When you're good & ready

Almost 03:31
Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Almost": It's not even over But we're getting closer Now I'm that bit older Did I make it easy I can give too freely Or were you too greedy I can almost see But I'm not there yet Almost within reach But I'm not there yet Weakness lets in monsters Help but no one bothers Breathe in deep Take your seat I can almost see But I'm not there yet Almost within reach But I'm not there yet I can almost see But I'm not there yet (But I'm not there yet) Almost within reach But I'm not there yet (But I'm not there yet) I can almost see But I'm not there yet (But I'm not there yet) Almost within reach But I'm not there yet (But I'm not there yet) I can almost see But I'm not there yet Almost within reach But I'm not there yet

Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere": It's 5 o'clock somewhere It's time to stop And go nowhere But gravity still pulls me in When I'm leaving It's closing time I need Something on ice And breathe an air With no one here but me That's what I need Slowly letting the day go Letting the world know I'll be gone awhile and Slowly letting the night in I can begin to put myself on silent I may need to leave without a word I can't guarantee that I'll return Don't wait around too long I won't be here I tend to disappear Slowly letting the day go Letting the world know I'll be gone awhile and Slowly letting the night in I can begin to put myself on silent I wanna break from running And I don't want to say a word Wallow doing nothing I wanna hit do not disturb It's 5 o'clock somewhere Turn all the locks Put away the chairs Turn the sign to closed Slowly letting the day go Letting the world know I'll be gone awhile and Slowly letting the night in I can begin to put myself on silent Letting the day go Letting the world know I'll be gone awhile and Slowly letting the night in I can begin to put myself on silent It's 5 o'clock somewhere It's 5 o'clock somewhere It's 5 o'clock somewhere
8.
Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "When You're Right, You're Right": When the day is done Every win hard won And I wanna slam every door That's when I like to to take you out dancing On the kitchen floor You may refuse You may decline But a little jitter on linoleum Can help us unwind When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you know me so well you can tell But I tell you I'm fine You somehow find a way To embrace this porcupine I try not to smile In spite of you You got me laughing at myself You know what to do When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right You can say nothing My bark is much worse than my bite 'Cause of your loving That's how I know that you're right So this day is done The night is young And I'm in a bit of a mood That's when I like to take you out dancing In the living room When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right When you're right, you're right You know I don't want to fight But I hate it when you're right You know I don't want to fight But I know when you're right, you're right

Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "After Midnight Here": I didn't want to talk at all We'd only speak about the weather And it's still raining I didn't want to peek outside I spend the day content not knowing If it's still raining I need a word with the weatherman Whether he can help me I need to take it up with the manager Maybe she can help me But it's after midnight here A little bit of light will fool you But you know it's the hope that kills you I've given up I'll wear my sweater The one that says that it gets better While the world, the world gets wetter I need a word with the weatherman Whether he can help me I need to take it up with the manager Maybe she can help me But it's after midnight here I need a word with the weatherman Whether he can help me I need to take it up with the manager Maybe she can help me I need to go 'cause the weatherman tells me he can't help me I need to sleep but the manager keeps me on hold And it's after midnight here I didn't want to talk at all You know it's after midnight here
10.
Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "Why Won't My Brain Stop": When I turn out the light When my body's had enough I wait for the dark to close in When will my thoughts shut up Oh they'll be here soon These fraught intruders Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop There's no high, there's no drug To turn the volume down And I'm not asking for much I need a couple of hours I can only dream of dreams Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop The moment I drift away Is the moment I recall What I screwed up today Why won't Why won't Why won't Why Won't Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't my brain stop Why won't Why won't (Why won't) When I turn out the light (Why won't) When my body's (why won't) had enough (Why won't)

All Done Up 04:54
Lyrics for Big Little Lions' song "All Done Up": It's been a long, long day I need to wind it down Maybe a short escape Gonna get all done up Father time waits for nobody Always impatient and cold Don't bother to beg You'll find that he's already gone Patience is not my best trait But it's often hangin' round The day's work is done And the night The night is young Make some calls, make some plans Hope that someone picks up I'm at my wits end Need a break Need a friend 'Cause I'm all 'Cause I'm all done up Time heals all But steals away my confidence And doubt comes creeping in Will I find, find someone Who will help to paint this town Make some calls, make some plans Hope that someone picks up I'm at my wits end Need a break Need a friend 'Cause I'm all 'Cause I'm all done up I'm dreaming big Let's keep this city on its toes Don't care what they think We'll show 'em in our fancy clothes Make some calls, make some plans Hope that someone picks up I'm at my wits end Need a break Need a friend 'Cause I'm all 'Cause I'm all done up 'Cause I'm all 'Cause I'm all done up

For Big Little Lions' first concept album, the trans-continental folk-pop duo take us from morning to night on AMPM. Over 11 songs the JUNO winning collaborators tackle anxiety, self-hate, the grind of daily life, the perils of parenting and the value of community and forgiveness. They charm with their intimate, clever and relatable lyrics, paired with the melodic lilt of indie rock and pop.
It opens with "Oh It's You Again", reflecting on the loathed face in the mirror, before forgiving their own mistakes with the hook "Today my world changes". It's the perfect mantra for the transformative musical journey ahead.
"Nearly Human" is a bleary eyed wake up track, that doesn't want to push the coziness of dreams aside for the the day's unavoidable realities.
"Worth the Time", is a cycle-breaking song deeply personal to Helen Austin, the Canadian-based Little Lion, who grew up in the UK. It acknowledges that everyone's stories are worth reading, and that sometimes you just need to find a kinder shelf. A theme that re-emerges on the song "Good & Ready".
Daytime dozing is covered by "Catnap", where Paul Otten, the American-based Big Lion, takes vocal lead, over a rippling piano melody that urges us to "keep it at your own pace". And on "Almost" the duo swap leads, finding contentment in the now.
"It's 5 O'Clock Somewhere" wishes for the grind of a work day to be over, before "When You're Right, You're Right's" bass-heavy groove is comforted by a friend who is able to eradicate stress through a little linoleum dancing.
"After Midnight Here" deals with vacuos late-night conversations, before the insomniac's marching drum anthem "Why Won't My Brain Stop". The album closes with "All Done Up", where "time heals all", and the duo remind us to make the best of what we've got.
Just as on their previous releases Big Little Lions face hardship with positivity, humour and friendship. And with AMPM they get us ready for whatever tomorrow may bring.

about

Big Little Lions Royston, British Columbia

Big Little Lions is the ferocious songwriting duo of Helen Austin and Paul Otten.

“The duo's sound mixes the new school folk of Mumford and Sons with a dance rhythm that keeps the music sounding light and upbeat. It also doesn't hurt that their songs are very catchy and aided by how well Austin and Otten's voices complement each other.” - Examiner.com ... more
